Who We Are
Biography of Jacquelyn Carpenter
Jacquelyn “Jackie” Carpenter is a highly respected Houston trial lawyer with more than 20 years of experience in criminal defense. Over the course of her distinguished career, she has tried more than 50 cases and built a reputation as a formidable advocate, particularly in the areas of voir dire and cross-examination.
Jackie recently concluded a remarkable 14-year tenure with the Harris County Public Defender’s Office, where she was among the original lawyers in the Felony Trial Division and ultimately served as Assistant Chief Public Defender. In that role, she was widely trusted as the lawyer to handle the office’s most complex and high-profile cases. At the same time, she remained an active trial lawyer while supervising and mentoring teams of attorneys for eight years, helping to shape and strengthen the next generation of criminal defense advocates.
A Houston native, Jackie continues to devote her practice to the work that has long defined her career and calling: criminal defense. She is a graduate of Thurgood Marshall School of Law, where she earned her law degree in 2003 and was licensed that same year.
